Volunteer Programs Manager Job Description

 

Reports to: CEO

 

Position Summary:

The Volunteer Programs Manger maintains and enhances CCCC’s Volunteer Program by recruiting new volunteers, retaining existing volunteers, and further developing community partnerships through public relation activities, hosting informational tables and providing education regarding the organization and services to the general public, program participants, and volunteers.

 

This position supports the overall agency operations and programs, including the Chandler Food Bank, Family Resource Center, Community Action and Senior Programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Support CCCC’s current volunteer program
  • Coordinate individual volunteers to work within all CCCC departments
  • Plan and facilitate multiple group volunteer activities
  • Provide group activities during typical and non-typical business hours (working evenings and weekends as needed)
  • Prepare reports (monthly volunteer metrics)
  • Provide tours of CCCC to partners, prospective volunteers and community service workers
  • Schedule and facilitate volunteer orientation sessions
  • Provide opportunities for service learning students
  • Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of volunteers to the organization
  • Plan and coordinate the yearly volunteer appreciation luncheon
  • Facilitate quarterly volunteer meetings
  • Nominate volunteers for outside recognition (Governor’s Award, Chandler Gives Back etc.)
  • Develop, administer, and review policies and procedures which guide the volunteer programs and services
  • Create and manage volunteer job descriptions and schedules
  • Manage volunteer data (hours, contact info, etc.)
  • Promote upcoming fundraisers and current food bank needs
  • Create monthly e-newsletter and other public relation materials
  • Expand and update the newsletter recipient list
  • Update the CCCC website as needed and social media platforms
  • Schedule, receive and record donations (typical and non-typical business hours)
  • Participate in AVACA (Association for Volunteer Administration of Central Arizona)
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and two years relevant work experience in a human services setting supervising othersis preferred
  • Volunteer Management or appropriate related experience
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to present effective and compelling messages to individuals, groups, and the public.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to interface with internal and external customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals
  • Strong computer skills, including internet, social media, Microsoft Office applications, WordPress, and database management
  • Works well independently with minimum supervision
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a Level One fingerprint clearance card from DPS and pass a Central Registry background check.

Donations Payments Now Accepted Online:

Arizona Tax Credit

State taxpayers who contribute to CCCC can receive a dollar for dollar tax credit through the Working Poor Tax Credit. Couples filing jointly can receive up to $400 back and single taxpayers can receive up to $200. Make your donation by December 31st each year.

By The Numbers

Food Bank
In the last fiscal year (2012/2013), CCCC Food Bank distributed 16,863 food boxes. That was enough food to feed 55,235 individuals for at least 3 days!


Family Resource Center
-- $275.000 SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) dollars were utilized to supplement family’s nutrition.

-- 812 individuals were beneficiaries of SNAP and AHCCCS (Arizona Care Cost Containment System) dollars.

-- 8,612 hours of instruction and services was provided to 3-5 year olds through our Early Literacy and Family Programming.

-- In the last 6 months I-Help (Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program) has provided 606 bed nights to 79 unduplicated individuals.


Community Action Program
Last year, our Community Action Program provided supportive services, case management, referrals and financial assistance to over 9,500 community members, preventing 1,679 utility disconnects and 249 evictions.

Our VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, prepared 257 returns, recoving $300.402.00 in federal refunds and $83,334.00 in state refunds.


Senior Centers
The Chandler and Gilbert senior centers provided 29,984 meals at their respective locations and 31, 520 home delivered meals to homebound seniors. A total of 61,513 meals!

The center disbursed 54,244 tickets for transportation to and from the centers where 1,135 senior activities and classes were provided with a total 20,913 participants.


Events
We assisted over 3,200 children in our 2013 Back to School Program with backpacks, school supplies and clothing through collaboration with the city of Chandler and other area organizations.

Over 2000 children participated in Operation Santa in 2012 and received toys, books, candy, and more.


Volunteers
Although we have awesome staff members who ensure operations are running smoothly and moving forward CCCC would not be able to serve those in need without the assistance of our dedicated volunteers. Last fiscal year 1,572 unique individuals volunteered at CCCC (including the Chandler and Gilbert Senior Centers) giving a total of 32,598 volunteer hours. 808 came in the form of group members from area businesses, organizations, and faith based communities.
