SUMMARY: Assists workers engaged in food production and preparation  for congregate and home delivered meals in order to offer resources and services that nourish, challenge, and assist and entertain persons age 60+. CCCC’s Senior Programs staff act in accordance with the Senior Programs guiding principles: advocate for the well-being, respect individuality, engage in meaningful activities, and foster independence of/for the people we serve.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures and upholds company values and goals.
  • Exercises confidentiality, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamlines works processes, and works cooperatively to provide quality, seamless customer service.
  • Prepares food product in accordance with the approved menu, under the direction of Kitchen Coordinator; washes, peels, cuts, and seeds vegetables and fruits; cleans, cuts, and grinds meats, poultry, and seafood; stirs and strains soups and sauces: weighs and measures designated ingredients: carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
  • Assists with the coordination of food service: ensures appropriate portion size and quality of product; follows dietitian’s note for menu modifications; maintains food product recipes to ensure consistency of food product: prepares meals for appropriate serving styles in both congregate and home delivered situations.
  • Assists with weekly inventory, rotating dated items, maintains appropriate levels of inventory to cover emergency, unexpected changes or delivery problems.
  • Maintains standards and ensures compliance with current prevailing regulations regarding food service, sanitation, health, safety, and nutrition; attends continuing education classes and meetings as required: stores foods in designated areas: cleans work areas, equipment and utensils, segregates and removes garbage, and steam cleans or hoses garbage containers.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Promotes family, staff and community involvement with all aspects of the Senior Center programming.
  • Participates in program outreach, program development and fundraising.
  • Participates in ensuring programmatic contract compliance with all funding sources.
  • Participates in cost controls measures as directed.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Certificate from related trade school or 2 years or more of related experience or training.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, dietitians notes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to relate to elderly of all economic, social and ethnic groups, ability to communicate effectively with others.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form. Ability to evaluate a situation and apply reasonable solution to resolve


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Food Handler’s card, certification in CPR and First Aid. Must have clearance from the Arizona Central Registry for Sexual Offenders and qualify for a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, current driver’s license and ability to qualify drive CCCC vehicles through company insurance provider.

By The Numbers

At Chandler Christian Community Center, we change lives by nourishing minds and bodies to create a connected, thriving community. Last fiscal year (2014/2015), CCCC served 18,686 unique individuals from 5,969 households.

Food Bank

CCCC's Food Bank distributed 16,961 food boxes. That was enough food to feed 58,458 individuals for at least 3 days (12,090 unique individuals). We received 932,924 pounds of donated food from various partners.

Family Resource Center

­­ 12,796 hours of instruction and services were provided to children and adults through our Family Resource Center Programming.
2,391individuals were beneficiaries of SNAP and/or AHCCCS dollars.
198 individuals received health and wellness checks and 168 referrals were provided for medical or dental care

­­ I­HELP (Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program) provided 4,852 bed nights to 252 unduplicated individuals.

­206 individuals received intensive case management services ­71 homeless individuals received employment
52 homeless individuals were housed

Community Action Program

Our Community Action Program provided supportive services, case management, referrals and financial assistance to over 15,370 community members, preventing 2,404 utility disconnects and 304 evictions totaling $1,056,212.
Our VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, prepared 266 returns, recovering $335,222 in federal refunds and $52,950 in state refunds.

Senior Centers

The Chandler and Gilbert senior centers provided 34,730 meals at their respective locations and 38,406 home delivered meals to homebound seniors. A total of 73,136 meals were provided to 1,272 individuals!
The center disbursed 67,050 tickets for transportation to and from the centers where 1,142 senior activities and classes were provided with a total 21,149 participants.


Through collaboration with the City of Chandler and other area organizations, we assisted over 4,000 children with backpacks, school supplies and clothing for Back to School in 2014.

1,200 children participated in Operation Santa in 2014 and received toys, books, candy, and more. Additionally 17 of our case managed parents (41 children) participated in a savings incentive program that allowed them to receive gift cards in “match” of their accumulated assets (savings, retirement contributions, life insurance, etc.) and participation in financial coaching.


CCCC would not be able to serve those in need without the assistance of our dedicated volunteers. Last fiscal year 1,008 unique individuals volunteered at CCCC (including the Chandler and Gilbert Senior Centers) giving a total of 31,180 volunteer hours. Additionally, over 10,000 hours of volunteer time were provided by partners in our I­HELP program. Many thanks to all who help us fulfill our mission!
